The Wright Place on 6th was conceived in the imagination of Patti Kay and came to fruition in August of 2006. In her travels Patti was always on the look out for a more personal setting for dining, planting the seed that would eventually become The Wright Place on 6th. The dream grew. A grand home was needed and the quest began.
For Patti there was no question about it, Wausau was where her dream would come true. The beauty of Rib Mountain and the confluence of several bodies of water provides an extraordinary energy.
After an exhaustive search through neighborhoods for architecturally attractive homes with character and historical significance she found the home at 901 N. 6th Street, and it was perfect. Built in 1881 by Mr. Ely Wright, it has been described as the finest example of Italianate architecture in Wausau. The Wausau Historic Landmark Commission has designated the Ely Wright home a Wausau Historic Landmark.
Patricia Kay walked in to the building that would soon be her future restaurant and immediately thought, this is the right place. In a nod to the home’s founder, she named the Restaurant ”The Wright Place on 6th”. Patti’s dream had come true.
